Professional Experience:

Attorney Elisabet García-Torres has experience in general litigation in state and federal courts. Her practice encompasses all phases of litigation and notarial practice. She has represented clients in contractual, labor, tort, bankruptcy, criminal and family law matters.

Prior to joining Nevares, Sanchez Alvarez and Cancel, PSC she was a member of the Federal Litigation and Bankruptcy Division of the Puerto Rico Department of Justice. In such capacity Mrs. García  represented the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico before federal courts in a wide variety of cases such as Civil Rights, IDEA, and Health Care cases. And prior to that she was a law clerk at the Court of Appeals for the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. 

While in law school she served as Associate Editor and member of the Law Review of the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico. Ms. García authored various law review articles and publications. She has been a speaker in seminars and academic courses and  participates in a wide range of pro-bono activities.
